Yesterday I was reading Imagining India written by Nandan Nilekani.
The author was explaining how the curse of over population was turned into a boon,
How India has broken the prejudice that over population is a hindrance to growth, and used this overblown population as manpower and how IT industry has grown with outsourcing....
When I was reading this book, the fact that I am part of this so called young blood contributing to the national income was very intoxicating.
But then my bubble of contentment burst when I read the news about "Protecting Indian Culture"
There are some organisations in India who are self proclaimed gaurdians of the Indian Culture and they had beaten and mollested girls in Pubs for drinking and wearing skimpy clothes!
My shock knew no bounds when I saw this.
Who said that "beating women is Indian Culture"?
Where is it written in Indian Culture that it is OK for guys to go to pubs but women cannot do the same.
They also had guts to say that they are doing this for the parents who cannot control their wards.
Shame on you people who can even use such words in the defense of your actions.
Nowadays it has become an in thing in India for such organisations to go ahead and punish(in their view) individuals saying that it is against Indian Culture.
They are taking Law and order in their hands and go to any lengths. And this is not becoz of protecting Indian Culture, it is for their own selfish and political reasons. They cause incovinience to normal people whenever they need some national identity.
These people were arrested and went scot-free. The police even commented that there is no such law to punish mobs. The law can punish an individual but not a mob...
Imagining India or Fanatic India???
So come on, I will also form a mob to punish such selfish and fanatic organisations. Just kidding, I can find better things to kill time than be same as them.
